Appliance Repair Questions, Answered
Plain answers about scheduling, diagnosis, parts, warranty work and how we keep in touch; if your question is not here, put it on the schedule form (you do not have to commit to a visit to ask) and we will answer before we book anything.
Scheduling and service area
How do I request an appointment, and what happens after I send it?
Use the schedule form to tell us the appliance, what it is doing and your address, and choose the half of the day that suits you: mornings run 8 AM to 12 PM, afternoons 12 PM to 4 PM, or leave it flexible. We look the request over and reply to confirm a specific day and window before anyone comes out. If you opt in to text updates, that confirmation is the first message you will get.
My address is not on your list of service areas. Will you still come out?
Possibly. We are based in Locust Grove and normally travel up to about 30 miles, which takes in Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Stafford, Orange and Lake of the Woods, with King George on an extended basis. Send the request anyway with your full address and we will tell you whether we can help. Ask about any travel charge when you schedule; we confirm it before the visit, never after.
Do I need to be home during the visit?
Someone who can let us in, show us the appliance and approve the repair needs to be there; if that will not be you, tell us who to expect when you schedule. Please clear a path to the appliance and, for a washer or dishwasher, leave the water supply on so we can run it. If you rent, check with your landlord or property manager first about who is paying and who needs to be present.
Do you work evenings or Sundays, or offer emergency service?
Our current hours are Monday through Saturday, 8 AM to 6 PM, with Morning and Afternoon arrival windows. We do not offer after-hours or emergency service. If a refrigerator or freezer has stopped cooling, keep the door closed as much as you can, move anything critical to a cooler with ice, and request the earliest window we can confirm.
What if I need to reschedule or cancel?
Let us know as early as you can and we will move you to the next window that works. If you opted in to text updates, replying to your confirmation message is the quickest way; otherwise send a note through the schedule form. Ask about our cancellation policy when you schedule so there are no surprises.
Diagnosis, repairs and parts
What actually happens during the diagnostic visit?
The technician looks at the appliance, runs it, and checks the parts that match your symptom to find the real cause rather than guessing. Then you get a plain explanation of what failed, what the repair involves and what it will cost, and you decide whether to go ahead. Nothing is replaced without your approval.
Is there a diagnostic fee, and does it count toward the repair?
Ask us when you schedule. The diagnostic fee, and whether it applies to the repair, is confirmed with your appointment so you know the number before the visit. Once we have diagnosed the appliance, the repair itself is quoted before any work starts.
Can you tell me what is wrong from a description or a photo?
Sometimes we can narrow it down, and a photo, error code or model number helps us bring the right parts. We do not quote repairs sight unseen, though, because the same symptom can have several causes. A refrigerator that is not cooling might be a fan, a control board, a sealed-system leak or a blocked vent, and the in-home diagnosis is what tells us which one it is.
What if the repair needs a part you do not have with you?
We tell you before we leave, order the part and let you know when it is expected. How long that takes depends on the part and the brand; common parts usually arrive faster than parts for older or less common models. Once it arrives we schedule the return visit to install it, and if you opted in to text updates you will hear from us along the way.
Should I repair my appliance or replace it?
It depends on the age of the appliance, what failed and what the repair will cost compared to a comparable new unit. After the diagnosis we give you our honest read, including when a repair is not worth doing, and the decision is yours. We would rather tell you to replace something than sell you a repair that will not last.
Is there anything you do not repair?
We do not service countertop microwaves, small kitchen appliances, HVAC equipment or water heaters. We do handle refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ranges, ovens, cooktops, ice makers and built-in microwaves, including sealed-system work on refrigerators and freezers, gas ranges and gas dryers, and built-in units that have to come out of the cabinetry. If you are not sure your appliance qualifies, ask when you schedule.
Warranty and service contracts
Should I contact you or my warranty company first?
If the appliance is covered by a manufacturer warranty, an extended warranty or a home service contract, open the claim with them first. They assign a repair company and send us the dispatch, and we then contact you to schedule. If you reach us first on a covered appliance, we will point you back to the claim process so you do not lose the coverage.
Will I owe anything on a warranty visit?
That depends on your coverage. Many extended warranties and service contracts have a service fee or deductible set by the plan, and manufacturer coverage varies by brand and by how old the appliance is. The warranty company or plan administrator tells you what you owe when they assign the claim, and we collect only what the plan says applies to you.
What if the warranty company says the repair is not covered?
Coverage decisions belong to the administrator, not to us. Our job is to diagnose accurately, report what we found with the photos and details they require, and explain it to you in plain language so you can follow up with them. If a repair is denied and you still want it done, you can have it done as a regular paid repair and we will quote it before starting.
Is there a warranty on your own repairs?
Ask us about our labor and parts warranty when you schedule; we confirm the terms with your appointment. On a dispatched warranty job, the plan's own terms usually govern the repair. Either way, if the same problem comes back, let us know as soon as it does so we can look at it.
I handle claims for a warranty company or manage rental properties. How do I dispatch you?
We accept manufacturer warranty, extended warranty and service-contract dispatches and handle the reporting, photos and parts requests your process needs. From Locust Grove we cover Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Stafford, Locust Grove, Lake of the Woods and Orange, with King George on an extended basis. Coverage details and how to reach us are on the warranty appliance repair page. Property managers and landlords can request service for a unit directly on the schedule form; note the tenant's contact details and who approves the repair.
Text updates, privacy and payment
How do I stop the texts, and when do you send them?
Reply STOP to any message and they stop; reply HELP for help. We do not send between 9 PM and 8 AM Eastern. If you opt in, you get appointment confirmations, arrival-window reminders, on-the-way notices, repair status and parts updates, receipts and a one-time request for feedback after service. Message and data rates may apply; typical frequency and the full terms are in our SMS terms.
Will I be dealing with a real person?
Yes. The owner is the technician who comes to your home, diagnoses the appliance and does the repair. Some scheduling messages and calls may be handled by an automated assistant so we can book accurately. You can ask for a person at any point; if one is not free right then, your message is transcribed and goes directly to the owner, and we follow up with you.
What do you do with my phone number and address?
We use them to schedule the visit, find your home and keep you posted about the repair. We do not sell your information, and we do not share your mobile number or text-message consent with third parties or affiliates for marketing. On a warranty job, we share only what the administrator needs to process the claim. The full policy is on our privacy page.
How and when do I pay?
Accepted payment methods, and when payment is collected on the visit, are confirmed when we book your appointment, so ask when you schedule. You approve the repair price after the diagnosis and before any work begins, so there is nothing to pay that you have not already agreed to. On a warranty dispatch, the administrator tells you what portion, if any, is yours.
Still have a question?
Put it on the schedule form along with the appliance and what it is doing. You do not have to commit to a visit to ask, and we answer before we book anything.
